UTME 2022: JAMB optimistic about a hitch-free exercise

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) leadership has expressed optimism for a smooth exam scheduled for May.

The council made this known in its weekly newsletter from the Registrar’s Office on Monday, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that JAMB had scheduled the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2022 to be held from May 6-16.

The council said it was confident of delivering a flawless exercise in its main exam, at all of its 757 centers across the country.

This, he said, follows the success recorded in the mock UTME held on Saturday, April 9.

During the post-exam analysis held to perform an autopsy of the exam, Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede revealed that the mock exam, conducted in 757 centers across the country, was conducted with few or no snags.

He said the jury was ready to deliver the most transparent review ever on May 6.

The release also quotes the Registrar as advising owners of computerized testing centers (CBTs) nationwide not to rest on their oars, but build on the success recorded during the mock exercise.

Oloyede added that centers need to perform better in the main exam in May.

He reiterated that the mock exam was instituted to mainly test his facilities and ensure that he is ready for the main UTME.

It was also instituted, he explained, to give candidates the opportunity to experience the testing system and how to apply it to the main exam.

“Taking the mock exam has proven to be one of the most effective tests of preparing for the main exam,” Oloyede said.

NAN reports that a total of 1.8 million candidates had been registered for this year’s main UTME. (NOPE)
